Rugby tours & tournaments in Canada

Touring in Canada

Rugby has a long history in Canada with its initial appearance way back in the 1860's; its early growth was credited to the Army and Navy bringing the game into the country. Since its humble beginnings, the Canadians have battled with the constraints that the climate of the country has put upon them. Blessed with harsh winters and a relatively small population in regards to its size, there were a few hurdles to jump to get the game fully established in the country. However it is now well represented in all 10 provinces.

The Canadians are fully aware that the future of the sport is in the hands of the young, with most of the new players being young Canadian athletes. The sport is big in schools as well, meaning there will be no shortage of fixtures for all age groups and levels of skill.

Canada as a country is as impressive as the quality of rugby played there. There is some fantastic scenery - amazing mountains, lakes and forests as well as action packed cities with never ending entertainment. Toronto, Canada's largest city has some incredible landmarks, the most famous being the CN Tower that dominates the cities skyline. A trip to the top of this massive building is a nerve-racking experience, but definitely worth it as you can see for miles. On a good day you can see straight into the open roof of the incredible Sky Dome which is the home of the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball team. Tours around the stadium are available depending on the fixture list.

A visit to Niagara Falls, just out side Toronto, is a must. You will marvel at the incredible horseshoe shaped natural wonder and, for the brave, a trip into the spray of the falls is available on the 'Maid of the Mist'. On the West Coast of the country is the British Columbia Province, there is an abundance of rugby in this area

Rugby was first played in the region in 1876, and the Vancouver Rugby Club was formed in 1888. Over the last 30 years rugby has made steady progress in British Columbia and is continually building, there is a big emphasis on Mini's Rugby, meaning there will be fixtures for all.

Vancouver is another fantastic city: gleaming skyscrapers nestle between soaring mountains and the beautiful Pacific Ocean, providing an amazing backdrop for your rugby fixtures.

Canada, with its vast diverse landscape, famous cities and rugby culture, is an ideal place to tour.
