Touring in England

Rugby began in the 1800's at Rugby School in the Midlands of England - hence the name of the sport. The game was created by the pupils, who played on grass pitches with a pigs bladder encased in leather as the ball.
When the boys of Rugby left school they took the game with them and clubs began to spring up around the country. In 1871 30 people from 22 clubs met to consolidate the rules of the game, this was the humble beginnings of the English RFU. Now consisting of 2000 clubs, currently financing 8000 mini teams and with 3000 schools in the English Rugby Football Schools Union you can see that the sport certainly took off and is still going strong.
An original member of the 5 Nations, every year there are 200,000 games played in association with the RFU, so there will never be a shortage of competitive games to watch or play.
